There is something about August that feels like standing at the starting line.
For many educators, this month is filled with classroom checklists, lesson plans, fresh notebooks, and the excitement (and nerves) that come with a brand new school year. Even though my August looks a little different this year, I still find myself preparing for what’s ahead.
Instead of decorating a classroom, I’m pouring my heart into growing The Rainy Chapter. I’m sketching new sticker ideas, planning blog posts, packing happy mail, and continuing my search for the next opportunity where I can make a difference. It’s a different kind of preparation, but preparation all the same.
It reminded me that we don’t all begin August in the same place, but we all have the opportunity to begin with purpose.
So this month, my intention is simple:
I will plant seeds instead of chasing shortcuts.
Whether those seeds are new ideas, meaningful relationships, creative projects, or opportunities that haven’t appeared yet, I want to trust that consistent effort today will become something beautiful tomorrow. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but every small step counts.
If your August looks different than you expected, know that you’re not behind. You’re simply writing a different chapter.
