Happy Saturday y’all! I would love to tell you that lately everything has fallen perfectly into place. That every interview has led to the right opportunity, that every change has been easy, and that I have confidently embraced this new chapter with a smile on my face, but that wouldn’t be true.
The truth is, I’ve been in a bit of a slump. Looking for work has been harder than I expected. Interview after interview, I prepare, I show up, I give it everything I have, and then I find myself coming up short. It is difficult not to question yourself when you keep hearing no, especially when you know how much you still have to give.
At the same time, life at home has changed too. My daughter is now hundreds of miles away at college, beginning an exciting new chapter of her own. I am incredibly proud of her, but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss her. The house feels different. My routines feel different. I feel different.
That is a lot of change at once. Maybe that’s why I’ve been feeling a little stuck lately.
I know that I don’t have to have everything figured out to keep moving forward.
I can be disappointed and still apply for the next opportunity. I can miss my daughter and still be incredibly excited for the life she is building. I can have days when I feel discouraged and still wake up the next morning believing something good is ahead.
I can stand in the rain and still look for the sunshine. I choose to believe this is what perseverance really looks like.
It doesn’t always have to be a huge comeback or some perfectly inspirational moment. Sometimes perseverance is opening the laptop and applying again. It’s preparing for another interview when the last one didn’t work out. It’s working on the dream you’ve been building on the side. It’s allowing yourself to have a hard day without deciding that you have a hard life.
Right now, I don’t know exactly what the next chapter holds.
And for someone who likes to have a plan, that’s not always easy.
But I do know that I’m still standing. I’m still trying. I’m still creating. I’m still dreaming. And… I’m still believing that there is something good waiting on the other side of this storm.
So, if you’re standing in a little rain of your own right now, I’m right there with you.
We don’t have to pretend the storm isn’t happening.
We just have to keep going through it.
Keep going, keep growing…
